Same with process jargon. The phrase 'toluene production process' sounds like a credible way to evaluate an epoxy resin supplier. But toluene is primarily produced by catalytic reforming of naphtha in a refinery. It's a solvent, not a feedstock for typical epoxy resin. If someone gives you a long explanation about how their resin comes from a 'toluene production process' instead of handing you a data sheet, you're having the wrong conversation. The conversation should be about bisphenol A, epichlorohydrin, equivalent weight, viscosity, and cure compatibility. (I should write a directory of these supply-chain terms.)

Here's where the purchasing reality bites. In 2024, we worked with a buyer who asked for 'clear casting epoxy' for a live edge project. The COA said it was a general-purpose laminating resin.
